POSITION: Microbiologist -
Manager Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring Laboratory
DEPARTMENT: Quality Control
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
A 4-year college degree in a relevant field. Msc. in Microbiology or a higher degree, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
At least five (5) years relevant experience. Specific experience to include: EM sampling, aseptic technique, GMP, TOC, Sterility testing, Bioburden testing and analysis, clean room operations, EM data analysis and trending. At least 2 years in a management position of a microbiology laboratory in the Biotechnology, Biopharmaceutical or Pharmaceutical industry. Experience with injectable drugs, preferred.
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
The successful candidate must be able to (1) Supervise technicians, (2) Supervise / perform and participate in the validation of Environmental Monitoring of the facility [e.g., viable and non-viable sampling (air, surface, and water)], (3) Write and revise scientific documents, protocols, reports and SOPs, (4) Follow established laboratory safety procedures, (5) Analyze samples using appropriate instrumentation (e.g., TOC, Conductivity & pH), (6) Perform Microbial Limit Testing, (7) Perform media preparation and qualification, (8) Have excellent knowledge of GMPs, ICH and EU/EC regulations, (9) Have knowledge of compendial procedures (i.e. USP, NF, EU), (10) Have set-up or participated in the set-up of a microbiology laboratory in the Biotechnology, Biopharmaceutical or Pharmaceutical industry, (11) Have excellent written and oral communication skills, and (12) Experience in performing trend analysis (experience working with Novatek software systems would be an advantage).
WORK HOURS:
Position is full time. Weekend, holiday, and evening work to be assigned on a rotating basis, as needed.
Limited local travel to other Company facilities may be required.
